Mandani’s governance wins approval from nearly 60% of New Yorkers

A recent poll by Suffolk University in Boston reveals that nearly 60% of New York City residents are satisfied with Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s performance, and a similar proportion believes he has exceeded expectations during his first year in office. Regarding the issues of greatest concern to voters, the cost of living topped the list.

Suffolk University launched its “CityView” polling series in 2021 to regularly track voter sentiment in major U.S. cities. This specific poll of New York City residents was conducted from September 1 to 3, surveying a sample of 500 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percentage points. Unlike Siena College, which regularly polls New York State voters on their views regarding politicians, Suffolk University’s poll focuses specifically on New York City voters eligible to cast ballots in mayoral elections.
